Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, who not only took an active role in investigating these election debacles but also found herself in the middle of one after publicly questioning the Bush Administration about the 9-11 terrorist attacks. Former Deputy Mayor Rebecca Rotzler will lead the discussion that follows which will include special regional guests.
- On Thursday, April 24th, 2008 we sponsored a discussion of the Wallkill River

and led a discussion entitled The Walkill and Us. Click here to watch the video.
- On February 28 2008 for Black History Month, the New Paltz Green Party invited the public to enjoy Dr. Laurence Salomon's DVD/slideshow, ''Empires of the Western Sudan: vast commercial African Empires during Europe's Dark Ages" -with West African music- followed by community discussion.
- On January 31, 2008 we had a public viewing of the video recording of the Bill Moyer's 35 minute interview of James Cone. In the interview Cone defends his theme of
the relationship of the Christian Cross & the Lynching Trees of the South. This will be followed by an open discussion, led by Dr. Edgar Rodriguez, of Cone's theme after the viewing, to search for ways that we can apply it to our local efforts to understand and address institutional racism. The Green Party hopes that this will be a useful exercize that we can offer to our New Paltz community.

The link gives you the opportunity to see and hear an interview with
the author and theologian James Cone done on the Bill Moyers' Journal
program on PBS on 11/23/07. James Cone makes a dramatic and
powerful argument that the United States can not move forward at the
national or international level until it recognizes that it is not innocent.
He connects the Christian cross and the lynching trees of the South
as a problem similar to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ who represented
the powerless against the struggle of the powerful. He further argues in
detail that until mostly white Christians confront the myth of national
innocence our society can not progress.
